Crown Molding For the DIY'er

This Crown molding did wonders for a new construction family-room. This one is a flat molding that is much easier to install than actual crown molding that sits at a 45 to the wall and ceiling. Regardless the new materials available for the homeowners and diy'ers is a huge advance over the MDF and old PU products from the past. This particular molding needs to be nailed but the nail holes and the seams are almost invisible because the ornate style is so busy. I used this one to drop below the molding 6 inches leaving a negative space to paint from the bottom of the flat molding all the way to the top of the crown molding. The look was effectively a huge crown molding with minimum expense. The foam moldings I purchase from if interested, are extremely easy to work with and very inexpensive. I am a crown molding guy in the San Diego area I can charge huge money for just installing two inexpensive moldings to achieve a big-molding look.
