Benefits of using dual flush water-saving toilets


Dual Flush toilets use two flush options and put you in control of your water consumption. One long flush 1.6 gallons of water for solids and one short flush for liquids which uses only 0.8 gallons of water. So there is a 50% savings in water usage for every short flush of 0.8 gallons that is used instead of the 1.6 gallon flush.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency:
  • "The major water use inside the home is TOILET FLUSHING. If you home was built before 1992 and you haven't replaced your toilets recently, you probably could benefit from installing high-efficiency toilets that use 1.6 gallons or less per flush. A family of four can save 14,000 to 25,000 gallons of water per year by making this change."
  • "Fixing a toilet that silently leaks 500 gallons of water per day might save nearly $1,000 per year."
