Quality is high and shine sufficiently good so that the heads don't need to be buffed to match recently re-brassed hardware. Hard to find slotted screws in stores so nice to have a reliable source online.

Solid (un-lacquered) brass screws

"Renovator's Supply" fulfilled this order for me.

These are sturdy (for brass) un-lacquered screws. Oval head brass screws seem to be getting harder and harder to find, so I was pleased to be able to order these from amazon. I used these to attach brass handles to the sides of an oak box I built for my mother, as the screws that came with the handles were only brass plated and looked cheap.

Two quick tips for anyone planning to use these:
1. Because they are un-lacquered they will tarnish, and may even arrive with a slight tarnish already. If you want a "bright brass" finish, just use a tiny bit of metal polish, or polishing paper to shine them up and then apply some sort of protective finish (after installation).

2. Always pre-drill holes for brass screws as brass is a fairly soft metal and you don't want to twist the head off of the screw when installing. To help prevent this I dip the tip of the screw in paste wax before screwing it into place. Good luck!
