Cute and sturdy hinges for operable shutters. May need a 2nd coat of paint on the screws. Don’t think those are galvanized. Still, it’s hard to find the right kind of hinges for our operable shutters and these work great.

These were nice and very well made, I unfortunately had to return them because I mismeasured! I pretty mad at myself for that! If I would definitely order these again for a project.

Disappointed that Renovator's Supply is selling this as 'wrought iron'; it's only thicker machine stamped sheet steel, except for the pintle pin. I needed the offset for the doors of a newly constructed storage shed and the measurements worked for my needs. However, metal of the arm of the pintle is only the same strap metal of the rest of the hinge and it is wrapped around the pin and fixed in the pintle plate. This double layer of sheet metal IS NOT STRONG enough, even to be used for wooden shutters. Since installing them in August of last year, with weekly use, these metal pintle arms are bending/shifting out of perpendicular with respect to the pintle plate. This affects how the doors close, or not. A better construction is expected - at least weld the top and bottom seam of this to make that doubled ply fixed perpendicular. Maybe then, the torque of opening and closing would cause this arm metal to rip out of the plate. This connections is just splayed and tack welded. Not solid. I expect these to fail within two years.

Flathead screws?

This item came with flat tea screws! They are the worst to install! Wasn't thrilled.

So far so good-I made the shutters and this hardware was very affordable compared to others online.One note is the paint did start to rub off the main spindle from the hinge going back an forth with full weight but it was mainly cosmetic and I don’t plan on open/closing these at all; mainly just for looks(although they do actually work!)One other note is if your window is over 40”, they recommend 3 hinges(Dog ear holders are separate item)Good luck!

You get what you pay for

Seem cheaply made, I believe they are more for show. I did not use because I believe they would not support the load. Not to be unfair, if used for decorating or super light applications I believed they are good deal

Buy your own screws.

The screws that come with the hinges are a nightmare. They’re soft as butter. They’re slotted when they should be anything but. Makes installation a challenge. Hinges themselves are fine. I would recommend buying replacement screws before attempting install.

Did not work for my operation poor coating cracked and flaked off when hinge could not support the weight of the piece. Was the piece to heavy yes should it have failed as bad as it did no. Hinge buckled and twisted like a coke can. Door was about 8lbs yes it was single hinged. These based on how thin they are and the quality of the coating are purely cosmetic. At the material and finish these should be about 5$ each if that.

Check offsets

My windows protrude from side of house so I flipped hinge on pintle and worked great. I used a bench vise to crimp the part of the hinge that fits on pintle to make it more snug

I didnt have any issues with these hinges. They were easy to install. Exactly as advertised

Inconsistent alignment

3 out of 4 studs were misaligned, I was able to bend them into position by using the strap as lever. Ordered 5 more & had to fix those too (1-pack: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00AIIHA9I?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title)

They are ok, they aren’t all perfect and need some minor tweaking of angles

these are definitely the best bang for the buck

You may have to do a bit of bending to get them right. Odds are you are not going to want to use the supplied screws. I have to use them where the wood on the outiside of metal hinge when closed because my windows are almost flush with all (shutters cannot sit inside frame-reverse installation). Searching the Internet, these are definitely the best bang for the buck.

I wanted a hinge that appears to be hand forged iron when viewed from a distance on my exterior &amp; I am not disappointed. They appear to be well made, heavy gauge steel with what appears to be a powder coat of black paint. The pintle also appears very well constructed. I ordered 6 the first time and like them so well I'm ordering many more as I rebuild the shutters on our home. Attempting to find a similar hinge from other sources was considerably more expensive.
