Beautiful door jewelry
I purchased this brass door knocker as a replacement piece since we painted the door. It's incredibly sturdy and eye catching as we've received a number of compliments. And for the price...you can't beat it. A number of others I was looking at cost twice as much.One thing to note, screws provided are for mounting onto a wooden door. If you have a metal, hollow core door you'll have to mount with machine screws that will go through the door. I then capped off the back with acorn nuts for a clean finish.Machine Screws (round combo w/nuts) size #6-32 x 3in. Acorn nuts #6-32.

Nice and big love the oak leaf design -plan to custom paint.
I look out the windows and see oak trees, and my screen door is metal with oak leaves, so when our second battery-driven doorbell gave out I decided to use a simple knocker instead. Installed on a metal door, changed the screw size for my door, it went on easliy. I'm not thrilled with the total black, but in the spring (now in a snowy winter) I will paint oak colors on it for a custom look. Yes, there were bits of black iron type something in the packaging but didn't seem to be anything from the actual knocker.

Oak Leaf Door Knocker
I purchased the oak leaf door knocker because of the symbolism of protection for my new home as a lucky charm. The brass is very weighty and the detail casted in this piece is truly artwork by natural design. I would give this as a gift or if someone gave this door knocker to me as a house present I would have thought the gift was bought a high end home boutique, it's so precious.

The knocker is sturdy and attractive. We wanted something natural and less formal looking for our mountain house and this was perfect. It arrived on time and was in good shape. It included screws to mount it. To Amazon: It would be helpful if the door knocker specs on Amazon would include the measurements from one screw to the next. None of them had that specification. Luckily the included wood screws were spaced so we could avoid the bolt holes of the previous knocker. But it was only luck.

A beautiful piece
I'm not a review writer, but this product doesn't have a review and needs one. The first reason is the measurements. Here is what the item description lacks: Mounting plate is 4.5 inches long; mounting screw holes are 4mm and 1 inch apart; projection from door is 1.5 inches. It is just shy of the 6 inches that the product description states and 3 inches wide. It comes with 2 screws that screw through the mounting plate. They are wood screws. I have a metal door and plan to get machine screws and washers to screw through the back of my door to the mounting plate. It knocks easily and is practical.<br>On to the product review. This is truly a beautiful piece. it has textured areas and smooth areas. The veining in the leaves makes me think of fall which is perfect for the acorn accents. It is every bit as nice in person as the photo and I prefer it on my yellowish green door to the black backdrop. It's more than I would typically pay for a door knocker. But, the value it adds to the door is substantial. It's not cheap, but it doesn't look like a cheap product at all - it's beautiful.

Overall I really like this door knocker. It is well made, sturdy, and attractive. My only complaint is mounting them. The knocker doesn't go up to a 90 degree angle from the door, so I had to get a special bent screwdriver to try and get the screws in (no impact driver for this job...) Then I discovered the screws were flat head brass painted black. Sounds good until the upper one got stripped out. It is now sticking out about half an inch and I can't get it in there any further. I would recommend this product, but I would recommend anyone who purchases it pick up a pair of steel Phillips head screws to install them.
