product is fine, what we wanted, but plan way ahead - I think they ship by donkey the first 500 miles in India, from a place without cell coverage for logistics and tracking dates, OR Amazon royally messed up the shipping, and sent it from my local shipping warehouse BACK to India for a blessing first.

first for people who aren't familiar with some of the older door hardware, remember to check dimensions. Both the shaft size and distance between the spindle and the key lock can vary although there are some common sizes. As to the product: It is heavy and the basic build is okay. My problem with it is the finish. I ordered the oil rubbed bronze. To me it does not look like any oil rubbed bronze that I have seen. The back plate I have looks closer to the picture they show for their antique brass back plate. I took it around and compared it to the lights, wall plates, fans and thumb turns that I have in the rooms with oil rubbed bronze fixtures. These fixtures are from different companies but all look the same. When I walked into the rooms with just a glance you could tell the finish from the this product didn't look then all the other oil rubbed brass fixtures and wall plates. The other finish problem I have with this is the gloss. Whenever I see a oil rubbed bronze finish it has a matte/satin finish, basically not glossy. When I got this I picked it up to look at and moved my hand a little to see it from slightly different angles. When I did I noticed something odd, in the flat part of the back plate I could see myself. It wasn't highly noticeable like a mirror but still I could see myself.

solid with intricate detail
For the price, you can't beat these. They are solid metal and are heavy. The detail is really beautiful. I have these though out my victorian house.

Very strong heavy duty escutcheon plates, support knobs The way they need to be. Great for Passage function using. you must double check your specs for the keyhole if you wish to use the lock as a lock, old Mortise Lock's are not standardIn the relationship between the spindle center and the keyhole center. That's on you.

beautiful, sturdy, and well made
I live in a very old home with antique doors. When we moved in, however, half the doors were missing doorknobs, back plates, or both. I bought this back plate for a door that only had a loose doorknob with nothing securing it to the door. This backplate fits perfectly!! It lined up with the existing keyhole and everything. I only bought one to try it out, but I will definitely be buying more for the rest of the doors.

Edit: First pair came. Great. Waited forever for second pair ordered. Then I ordered 4 more. Finally had to cancel and re-order second pair (there was never any tracking info. I don't think they were sent.) 4 haven't come either - and are way overdue (no tracking info on them, either.) May just send back and look for something else. May never come? Disappointing. Avoid aggravation. Old review: At just under $20 seemed expensive (because you need 2 per door). But upon comparison, really quite a good price. They are dark (I got the bronze.) But look great. I ordered more.

Perfect for my needs
I used this on a door that I antiqued. I used it to cover door knob holes and I added a crystal faux door knob. I have pictures to share but Amazon is not allowing me to add them at this time.

Very pretty and it compliments my antique doors well. My only feedback would be the screws were a bright gold and they stood out way too much, luckily we had some old screws that were a better color match
