I like these pull/locks and would have rated them 5 stars. However, the screws are inferior and will shear off when attempt to install. The first one sheared off when I was removing the strike after setting the location to establish where I needed to chisel out for the latch. The second sheared off when I was installing the strike after chiseling. Yes, I did drill pilot holes. I did not use the remainder of the screws and went to the hardware store to replace all the screws for the three pull/locks I was installing.

sturdy and good design
this is sturdy, made out of an cast iron material. it has a very heavy hand, feels substantial. I used it as a door pull/lock for a hidden door rather than casement window latch as it was intended. it seems to be molded cast iron, so the lines and features are more dull and rustic looking. but it functions smoothly.

Perfect for French window
I was doing up a cottage, and it had the most cute French windows over the kitchen sink. But they gapped, letting in weather. I bought this "Renovators Supply Manufacturing Sash Window Door Lock Black Wrought Iron 4 1/2", hoping that even though I had a type of casement window, not a sash window, that they would work....and they did, perfectly! I had them installed fairly close, near the edges of the window frames, and then when the windows were closed, I rotated the window lock into place, and it brought the windows completely closed, doing an excellent job of shutting out the weather. Perfect, and they look so beautiful on these old-fashioned French windows as well! A definite recommendation. Strongly made and a great scale for the windows.
