This is designed as a non movable Shutterdog
I had to return this even though I loved the design. It is a permanently fixed device. In other words you can’t turn it to shut functional shutters once in place. Nicely and sturdily made but not rotateable once in place

They are a solid and look great, but you should spray paint them before installing as they could rust. I bought these in the past and had rust spots after 1 winter season. I now re-paint them before putting them up. As for installation, I have a stucco house. I drilled the holes to be larger (only 2 of the 4) so that I can use the Tapcon screws for cement. After installation, I paint the screws too - all black. Even though you should paint them, I still recommend them. They are solid and do look good!

I contacted Renovator’s Supply . They were not aware that the description was for a pair but the Amazon direct seller was only shipping one. Their customer service sent me the matching shutter dog at no charge even though it wasn’t their mistake. It is rare to find such great quality both in the customer service at Renovator’s Supply and in these shutter hangers and shutter dogs. I have upgraded my review to reflect both!

Great hardware, but not screws
Very nice hardware. I like the non-traditional configuration...not “S” shaped. The only issue is with the screws. Slotted/flat-head screws are provided, but the slot is too narrow for most flat-head driver bits and are easily damaged if one is not very careful. I recognize slotted screws are more historically accurate, but rare is the occasion someone will critique the screw head. Still pleased, nonetheless.

Very good at keeping open shutter doors under control.
We bought these shutter dogs to use when we have our dining room shutters open. They are large & don't stay close to the wall very well, but now they are under control. Very appropriate size for indoor use & could be painted any color if black doesn't fit the room.
