The Woman Who Knew Too Much - Chinese Expo 2025
It started like any other morning at the expo. I made it a habit to walk the exhibition halls before show hours. It wasn’t just for curiosity—it was a way to stretch my legs and shake off the jet lag

The venue was massive. One of my walking trackers said a full loop of the expo covered about 14 miles.
I’d get the usual calls from booth staff as I passed: “Sir! Come see our new model!” or “Hey friend, let me show you something!” I’d smile, wave, and keep moving. No time to linger.
But one morning, something unusual happened.
“Hey You” – Not the Most Subtle Opener
A tall, striking woman called out to me across the aisle: “Hey you!”
I stopped, a little thrown off. I responded in Chinese, half-joking, "What’s up?" That’s not a typical greeting, especially not in a professional setting. She smiled and said, "I know you."
Now, I travel a lot. I meet a lot of people. But this woman? No bells were ringing. I told her politely she must have me confused with someone else.
But then she said: "You’re from W2 Pavilion. Booth C34."
Okay. That got my attention.
The Observers
Turns out, I wasn’t just another face in the crowd. According to her, there had been a lot of chatter among the other exhibitors. They had been watching me.
Specifically, they noticed that I was always at my post. From 9 AM to 6 PM, I stood there greeting visitors. No breaks. No chair. No tea time. No disappearing act. Just me, day after day, talking to whoever came through.
She told me that I was the only "White exhibitor" they’d seen at the show. More than that, they were trying to figure out how I was doing it.
And suddenly it all made sense. I had seen women hanging around our booth with clipboards. I assumed they were expo staff, maybe gathering feedback or observing foot traffic.
Nope. They were observing me.
Accidental Exhibit
I had unintentionally become a sort of... exhibit within the exhibit.
It was funny and flattering all at once. I wasn’t doing anything special — just doing what I was there to do. But the consistency? That stood out. And it sparked conversations, curiosity, and even admiration.
You never know who’s watching. And sometimes, just showing up and giving it your all can leave a bigger impression than you think.
